JulyTimes terms of use

Draft version 1.0. These terms require review by qualified Bangladeshi counsel before official launch.

1. Public-interest journalism

JulyTimes publishes journalism, evidence, commentary and public archives for informational and public-interest purposes. Content is not legal, medical, financial or emergency advice.

2. Accounts

You must provide accurate information, protect your credentials and notify JulyTimes of suspected misuse. Registration does not create a right to journalist, contributor or staff status. JulyTimes may restrict accounts to protect people, evidence and the service.

3. Contributions and submissions

You must not knowingly submit unlawful, fabricated, malicious or rights-infringing material. You retain ownership where applicable but grant JulyTimes permission to securely store, verify, edit and, only where authorized, publish the material. Confidential-source submissions follow the separate source-protection process.

4. Safety and privacy

No ordinary website can guarantee perfect anonymity. High-risk sources should read the source-safety guidance before contact. Personal data is handled under the privacy policy.

5. Corrections and replies

Factual challenges and responses may be submitted through the public corrections and right-of-reply form. Submission does not guarantee publication, but JulyTimes will document and review good-faith requests.

6. Intellectual property

JulyTimes branding and original works are protected. Fair quotation, linking and lawful reuse remain permitted. Evidence pages may carry additional rights, redaction and download restrictions.

7. Availability and external links

The service may be changed, suspended or withdrawn for security, legal, maintenance or editorial reasons. JulyTimes does not control third-party sites linked as sources.

8. Membership, payment and renewal

The checkout displays the price, billing period and payment provider before payment. A recurring membership is created only after explicit renewal authorization. Members may cancel future renewal through their private support-record link. Cancellation stops future renewal but does not reverse a payment already completed.

9. Refunds

A payer may request a full or partial refund through the private receipt page, stating the reason and amount. JulyTimes reviews the request against delivery of any purchased service, duplicate or erroneous payment, applicable provider rules and law. An approved refund is complete only after its payment-provider reference is recorded. Funding never buys editorial influence; disagreement with lawful editorial coverage alone does not create an entitlement to control or suppress it.
